Camel
Stainless steel. 2007.
Private collection.
This piece depicts a life scale bactrian camel, native to the steppes of north eastern Asia, rendered in stainless steel. I used what can be described as a "birds nest" technique that involves weaving strips of stainless steel around one another and welding them into position. It produces a visual effect that has both mass and solidity, but also a measure of transparency.
